SOOOOOO Fuggin apparently - You can only run Hyper-V in a 64bit environment? but yet I can DL an x86 Hyper-V 2008 32bit update for it? Makes 0 sense. Thats the shit that pisses me off - I spent 3/4 of my day installing and configuring an OS I can't use for Hyper-V. That's just about enough to piss me off and make me go home for the day. I'll queue up the 3.2gb download for 2008x64. Sons a bitches!!!

Ah thats news to me, but that kind of makes sense because of the ram cap on 32bit. Was VS2K5 that way...I never tried installing it on a 32bit OS. The 3 boxes we have here running vs2k5 are all 64bit.

No I'm running VS2005r2 64bit on a server 2k3r2 64bit box with 14gb of ram. I'm downloading both Vista64 (for my new laptop) and Server 2008 64. Thats only about 6gb of OS's and shouldn't take more than ALL FREAKING DAY

It just didn't make sense to me because everything I had read didn't say you needed 64bit - and esp the Hyper-V update article KB950050 (Hyper-V update) and KB952627 (Hyper-V manager for Vista) both came in x86 flavors. Shit makes 0 sense why you release an update to an OS version you that can't be installed on.

Well I got my new 320gb HD and 4gb of ram installed on my laptop - piece of cake. Then I've been installed Vista64 for about 2 hrs now. It's not exactly super straight forward, and automated like 32. There are some drivers you have to look for, but all the vendors have them now. So all my device drivers are installed and my programs are installing just fine. Installing SEP av on it, and going to defrag. This thing is shit quick now. My vista scores are

Processor - 5.5
Memory - 5.1
Hard Disk - 5.7

My 3d and gaming scores are 3.5 because I have integrated graphics - but still those are damn good scores for a laptop. I'm highly pleased at how fast and efficient vista64 is :) whoo!
