Been playing this for a few weeks off and on when I have time. It's now Free 2 play, and you don't even need a CC to sign up if you dont want. I'm having decent fun - the main game is PvE but there is a PVP portion to it as well. I found the community to be pretty mature and downright awesome compared to FPS and other MMO's. If you're into the lore it has some great stuff too. I have personally read the books at least three times so I really enjoy it.

It's also well put together for a F2P - probably the best out there. By doing what's called 'Deeds' (killing a certain number of things, exploring certain places) you get store points which you can buy things that aren't available to the F2P starting player. Or you can pay $15 a month and get everything. Or you can go to Microcenter and pickup the expansion pack for $9.99 and get 30 free days with a bonus of store points.

Pretty ingenious concept - I wouldn't mind if other companies started doing things this way.

And it may not be a top MMO, but with the f2p model I think it has to be one of the best f2p, up there with guild wars. I also am a huge nerd with LOTR so it makes it extra special, but I am a huge nerd for star wars, or used to be. In my parents basement in crates I think I still have the millennium falcon toy (the large one), then the smaller model ships (2 a-wings, 2 x-wings, 1 b-win, 2-3 y-wings, an AT-AT, an AT-ST), the Hoth battleset for the micro action figures, the death star battleset for the micro action figures, an Endor battleset, a still packaged princess leia & c3po figurine, and too many books to count.

Not ashamed in the slightest ;)

Their servers were down from about 8:30-10:00 last night. Was it then?

It was during that time but it was failing loading local files from the installer. I remember now that this actually happened before when a few of the guys picked up the game and wanted me to play. I might try again tonight.
